Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975)

As ANC alluded to, <>Monty Python and the Holy Grail<> is not a big budget production. In fact, the Python team actually uses low budgets to great effect, so it’s hard to tell if they did things on purpose or just incorporated them into the zaniness. The film is enjoyable precisely because it is nonsensical. It’s not really a send up of any particular genre, although it does have a few twists regarding traditional King Arthur staples. Like the Kids in the Hall twenty years later (in <>Brain Candy<>), the Python team play multiple roles in this film, all to great effect. <>…and the Holy Grail<> is very funny, very strange, and very well worth your time. Even if you’ve heard people quote and misquote it hundreds of times, if you’ve never watched the film before, do yourself a favor and sit down with it one evening.
